Phu Rua National Park ( 54 Km. )
The park covers parts of Phu Rua and ThaLi districts. The climate is generally cool throughout the year and so cold in winter that dew freezes into ice droplets called “Mae Khaning.” The peak of Phu Rua features mountain pine forest and striking natural rock fields.
Getting There Phu Rua National Park is around 54 km. from loei city. Take Highway No. 203 ( Loei-Phu Rua ) to Amphoe Phu Rua, turn right there and drive for around 4 km. to the park office

Loei Plant Production Requisites Technical Service Center 2
( Phu Rua Highland Agricultural Experiment Station ) ( 80 Km. )
The center is at Tambon Pla Ba. To get there, take the Loei-Dan Sai road for about 57 km. to Ban Kok Pho intersection, turn left and continue for 23 km. The station has experimental plots for various flowers and cold-climate fruits and vegetables. Visitors are welcome during 08.00 am.-04.00 pm. There are accommodation and tents available. Phu Rua Wanothayan Vineyard / Chateau de Loei ( 65 Km. )
Take the Loei-Phu Rua-Dan Sai road for about 65 km. to the vineyard. This is the largest vineyard in Thailand, with over a thousand rai of growing areas for fresh and wine-making grapes. Visitors can drive around the vineyard and shop at the Chateau de Loei. Upper Huai Nam Man and Huai Krathing Reservoir 19 Km.
Take the Loei-Phu Rua road for around 14 km. and turn right to the reservoir sign and drive for around 5 km. The area has lovely scenery that is accented by a bamboo forest and surrounding mountains. Bamboo rafts are available for dining and recreation. Long-tailed boats tow the rafts to the middle of the reservoir where visitors can enjoy a good day out.

Phu Pha lom Park 24 Km.
The park is full limestone mountains with sharp peaks that rise like walls. At the center is a dense jungle that covers over 1,000 rai and has numerous herbs, viewpoints and caves. Phra Phuttha Nawaminthara Mongkhon Lila Thawinakhara Phirak Buddha Image
(Phra Yai Phu Khok Ngeo) 70 Km.
This interesting site is at Phu Khok Ngeo. BanTha Di Mi. From the city, take Highway No. 201 (Loei-Chiang Khan) for 47 km. then turn left at the intersection and head for Ban Tha Di Mi. Turn right at BanTha Di Mi School and continue for 2 km. The total distance is about 70 km. This Buddha image. also known as Phra Yai, is in the Prathan Phon posture. It is made of fiber mixed with gold-colored resin. It stands at the foot of a hill at the mouth of the Huang River where it meets the Mekong River. The area offers a great view of the Mekong River and Lao P.D.R.

Thai Loei Ban Kang Pla Waving Group 5 Km.
The group is at Ban Kang Pla. Take the Loei-Chiang Khan for about 4 km. and turn right and drive 1 km. to the village. The house of the village headsman produces Thai Loei fabrics that are found only in Loei. Visitor can witness weaving demonstrations and buy products such as cloths, shirts, dresses, handbags. Etc., at product prices.

Kaeng KhodKhu 50 Km.
Is located on Chiang Khan – Pak Chom Road, around 3 km. from Amphoe Chiang Khan. It features large rock formations in the middle of the Mekong River and at its bend. Causing rapids overflowing the rocks during the run-off season. The best time for a visit from February to may when water recedes and the rocks can be seen clearly. There is also a riverside sand dune. For visitors who wish to admire the Mekong River and natural scenery along the river banks, a boat rental service is available here. The boat trip takes about one hour. Recommended dishes; such as, shrimps-based food and spicy fish soup, are in offer reasonable prices.

Suan Hin Pha Ngam (Rock Garden) 62 Km.
The rock garden, also known as Thailand’s Kunming, is at Ban Pha Ngam in Tambon Puan Phu. Takw Highway No. 201 (Loei-Chum Phae) for about 43 km. and turn right onto an asphalt road and drive for around 17 km. to the garden. In addition, the natural decay of the area over millions of years has endowed the area with strangely shaped mountains similar to the rock garden in Kunming in the People’s Republic of China. Phra That Si Song Rak 83 Km.
Phra That Si Song Rak is on the bank of the man River, 83 km. from Loei city. Take highway No.203 and turn right at Km. 66 onto Highway No.2013 and drive for 17 km.
It was built in 1560 as a symbol of lasting peace between Ayutthaya and Sattana Khanahut (Vientiane). It is regarded by the people of Loei as a sacred site. The rule of warship is that red attire and red flowers are prohibited as the color denotes violence, which is contrary to the purpose of the pagoda of friendship and peace.

Wat Neramit Vipassana 84 Km.
The temple sits majestically on a hillside just a short distance away from Phra That Si Song Rak. To get there, take Dan Sai-Nakhon Thai road for about 300 meters, turn left and go for 1 km. The beautiful hall and pagoda are both constructed of laterite and are the products of the imagination of monks and novices. The insides of the hall ornately decorated in the manner of the great temples of Bangkok. A replica of Phra Phutthachinnarat is the main Buddha image here and there is a wax figure of the late luang Pho Phra Maha Phan Sila Wisuttho who founded the temple.

Phi Ta Khon Museum 82 Km.
Is localted in Wat Phon Chai, 82 km. from Amphoe muang Loei. It is an educational site for those who are interested in the Ban Luang merit-making fair and the play of Phi Ta Khon. The museum is a wooden building and displays the history of town of Dan Sai, an exhibition on Phi Ta Khon, and demonstration of Phi Ta Khon masks. Phi Ta Khon souvenirs are available in various forms. Wat Pho Chai 105 Km.
The temple is at Ban Na Phung, Tambon Na Phung. To get there, take the Loei-Dan Sai road for 82 km., turn right and go on the Dan Sai-Na Haeo road for 23 km. Wat Pho Chai is an old temple that was founded before the village, probably around the 22nd – 23nd Buddhist centuries. The temple’s compound has many interesting items. The hall represents a fine example of Loei’s local buildings. The murals appear on both the inner and outer walls.

Tat Huang Waterfall 152 Km.
Tat Huang Waterfall is a large waterfall in Phu Suan Sai National Park. Its origin is the Huang River that divides Thailand and Lao P.D.R. Therefore, this is really an international waterfall that is surrounded by a verdant thick jungle.

PhuLuang National Parks
Getting There Take Highway No. 203 (Loei-Phu Rua) for about 36 km. to Ban San Tom, turn left at Ban San tom School and drive on an asphalt road for 18 km. to Huai Thong checkpoint and continue on a laterite road for around 10 km. to the Khok Nok Kraba Protection Unit. 4 –WD vehicles are best for the trip but the reserve has mini-vans for rent those unable to take their own cars.

Sirindhorn Arts Center 24 Km.
Built on an area of 6 rai in 1993, it is in the are Sri Songkham Witthaya School. To get there Highway No. 201 and turn left and head towards Amphoe Erawan for around 1 km. and the center will be on the right. It exhibits beautiful paintings by students, many of which have won national and international acclaim and it is also a place of cultural and artistic learning. The center comprises a permanent and temporary exhibition hall, on arts training buiding and a shop selling artwork and souvenirs. It was given the name “Sirindhorn Arts Center” By H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

Wat Tham Pha Ya 28 Km.
This cave is at ban Mai Santi, Tambon Na Dok kham. The cave is a cozy place and is the habitat of millions of insect-eating bats. They fly a long stream out of the cave lasting nearly an hour in the evening from 17.00-18.00 hrs. daily.

Phu Kardung National Park 78 Km.
The park is at Tambon Si Than. The area is a mainly mountainous one with unspoiled nature of pine forests and grass plains and wild flowers that grow ground streams and rock fields. The climate is cool throughout the year and cold in winter.
The peak of Phu Kardung has many lovely natural tourist spots like Pha nok An, a cliff from where the best sunrise can be seen, Pha Mak Duk, Pha Na noi, Pha Yiap Mek, Pha Lom Sak, another great sunset spot, and some good waterfalls like Wang Kwang, Than Sawan and Phen phop.
Getting There By car. Take highway No. 201 (Loei-Chom Phae) then go on Highway No.2019 for about 8 km. past Ban Si Than and Phu Kradung District Office to the park office. The total distance is about 80 km.
By Bus Get off at Pha Nok Khao then hop on a mini-bus at Che Kim store to the park office or get off at Phu Rua intersection and continue by mini-bus

Tat Hong Waterfall 89 Km.
The waterfall is in the park. To get there, take Highway No. 201 (Loei-Phu Kradung) and turn right onto Highway No. 2019 and driver for 7 Km. then turn left onto an Accelerated Rural Development road at Ban Noi I loeng and drive for 12 km. to Na Noi Forest Protection Unit. Tat Hong waterfall was opened by the park as part of an the adventure trail “Trace the route of Seri Thai, Tour the jungle of Tat Hong” This trail was used by the Seri Thai freedom movement from Loei to Phetchabun during World War ll to allow Field Marchal P. Pibulsongkram to escape Japanese forces. The waterfall is about 40 meters high and creates a loud echo when water splashes down in the pool below and that is the origin of its name. The trail also has other interesting spots, such as Tat Huai Wua, Hat Sai Khao, Kaeng Hin Tang, “Phu Hang” prehistoric color drawings, Phu Lat Muang viewpoint, and Wang Phong Yiam rafting point. As the route from the protection unit to the waterfall is not yet completed, visitors are advised to travel by four-wheel-drive vehicles.
